Went down mid-afternoon to light wind. Walked the spit to see how narrow the river channel is and returning found Squiz rigging 7.8m and then planing after a couple of hundred metres. Rigged 144/8.5m and just about planed planed all of the time, and had to point a lot to keep upwind into smal lwavelets on way out. Sailed for about an hour then packed up as wind decreased, and of course returned as I derigged. Was a bit way of sailing big cambered sail but was OK, partly as sea quite flat.
